Day 8 | Intimate partner violence & technology | Map it. End it. Demand change.

There is nothing domestic or tame about domestic violence and intimate partner abuse! Silence and isolation helps to keep the abuser in control. Break the silence. Take control of technology and make the violence known. Claim your power and map it!

There is nothing domestic or tame about domestic violence and intimate partner abuse! A woman (it is overwhelmingly women) caught in an abusive and violent intimate relationship has her sense of self, her dignity and integrity violated. It does harm to her health, her ability to function in the workplace and society, and to her body and safety.

Take a stand! | Don´t forward violence

Stop and think about the potential long-term impact of our actions when we record, share and pass on information using ICT. The culture of sharing online is not accompanied by a culture of respecting our right to privacy and safety. The violence stops with you. Take the pledge.

How many times have you received a forwarded message that contains photographs or a video of someone being violated or humiliated? What do you do with it? Do you pass it on? Or do you stop its spread? Do you forward?  Or do you delete?

Be Heard – Tell Your Story

A study
based based on 50 surveys from around the world shows that
at least 1 in every 3 women has been beaten, coerced into
sex, or abused in her lifetime.

Depressing statistics.
But at the same time, think of all the women that you know.
Grrls and women that you have chatted with on the bus, at
some party, waiting for the elevator, at a work function,
distant relatives, their partners…. There are so many
survivors amongst us.
