NGO helps to mediate domestic violence case

08:09 Aug 18 2011 Masafu sub-county, Busia district, Uganda

My name is Erumbi Marget aged 30 years. Iam a resident of kubo West village, Masafu Sub-County, Busia District. My husband {Mr. Ngolobe Francis.} had chased me with out telling me the reason why he was telling to go home. I really tried to know the reason why my husband was sending me home so what I did I went and reported him to our Local Council I of our Village requesting him to go and at least settle our issues.

Our Local Council I did not settle our issues but he rather wrote a letter referring me to Hope Case Foundation when I asked him that what Hope Case Foundation does. He told me that the Organization implements a Project on Violence against Women and Children and after giving me the referral letter, he directed me that it’s allocated along Okwenje Road Opposite the play ground of Busia S.S.

I got a boda boda from Kubo up to their Offices but lucky enough, when I arrived with the Boda Boda I meet a lady who was standing out side the Office and greeted her and I introduced my self then later I gave her a referral letter that I was given by our Local Council I the Project Officer read through that letter and told me to sit and wait for the summon letters.

In that process of writing summon letters, the Project Officer asked me the names of my husband so that she can summon him to come for a discussion. the summon letters were copied to Community Development Officer Masafu Sub-County, In charge Child and Family Protection unit Masafu Police Post, Chairperson LCIII, LCII and LCI and his was given to the LCI so that ha can deliver it to him.

The Local Council I delivered to him that letter and he turned up on that which was indicated the summon letter. In the meeting, my husband asked only for one thing which was to take me back in stead of wasting more time. I did not believe that he was saying the truth so I asked him to put in writing, he said is ready to care for me because I don’t have any problem with you but still your are my wife he indeed signed with the Office the agreement promising to go and stay with me in peace. When he finished that, he immediately went and looked for a boda boda and we went back home with him.

I really appreciate Hope Case Foundation and Women of Uganda Network for the good work they did for me in my family. Iam very happy because since from that day on 18th\08\2011 up to now we are living in peace with my husband we thank Hope Case Foundation for having helped us to settle our case.
